About Us

The ZONE is an after-school program exclusively for Edgar Middle School students. It was established to help students who would benefit from an enrichment program that supports young adults while helping to prevent at-risk behaviors. The ZONE operates every day school is in full session. The ZONE is not open when there is no school or early dismissal days. The program runs from 2:31 to 6:00 pm. Students must be picked up prior to our 6:00 pm closing.

The ZONE has four Directors, Roseanna Misuraca, Allyson Rescorl, Emily Tzetzos , and Paul Mruczinski . They are all Edgar Middle School teachers and have filled various roles at The ZONE over the past few years from Acting Director to Activity Leader. A Director plans and manages the day's events. All activities and homework groups are led by Edgar staff members. Some of the staff members you might see are Ms. Araneo, Ms. Mertz, Mrs. Petrakakos, Mr. J.Butler, Mr.Mrunczinski, Mrs. Hoffman, Ms. Presuto, Ms. Wetzel, and Mrs. Meyer. Mentors from Rutgers University and Metuchen High School complement our staff. Mrs. Paulmenn is The ZONE bookkeeper and is available to answer any billing and/or payment questions.

The ZONE program is owned and operated by the Metuchen Board of Education. The program is supported exclusively through the fees we collect. We are not subsidized by the Metuchen Board of Education. To that end, we strive to provide an outstanding after-school program at an affordable price for Metuchen families.
